Haradrim
The Haradrim, men of Harad, are similar in many ways to Dunlendings, and
yet have a few key differences. First, their skin color is browner. They
also tend to be larger on average, with slightly greater strength and
constitution. Unfortunately for them, they also tend not to be quite as
bright. And yet, they can be very cunning, especially in matters of
barter, economics, astronomy, and mathematics. It is said one of the
best astronomical observatories, as well as one of the greatest libraries
in the world, can be found in Harad. The Haradrim have also learned to
tame ferocious beasts called Oliphaunts or Mumakil. They can even, it is
said, ride these house-sized creatures into battle.
Haradrim surnames almost always come from their tribes. Additionally,
when written, the surname follows the given name by a single quotation
mark, rather than a space. For example, a Haradrim named Tomas from the
Qata tribe would write his name "Tomas'qata" or "Tomas'Qata".
