Mail
^ How to send and read mail
You can send and read mail in any post office that is
not in enemy territory. Post offices can be found in
all of the newbie start locations and in most large cities.
To mail someone else, simply type "mail <name>" (without the
brackets). To read your mail, type "mail", and an index of all
of the messages in your mailbox will appear. To read a message,
type the message number and hit enter.
You may also send a note you've written to someone. To do
this, type "deliver <note>" in any post office.
^ Other mail commands
For a complete list of mailer commands, type "mail" to enter the
mailer system and then type a question mark at the prompt.
^ How to get a mailing address
It is necessary to register for a mailbox. Doing so costs
10 gold.
To register for a mail box or change your current mail box
location, use the 'register' command in the post office. You can
also 'unregister' if you wish to get rid of your mail box.
Additionally, if you have pending mail debts, from sending mail to
hard to reach places, you can 'settle' them at any post office that
you can use.
Once you have registered, your mailing address is:
<your name>@<city where you registered>.
For example, if your name is Elmo, and you had a post office
box at the post office in Bywater, your mud-mailing address
would be Elmo@Bywater.
You cannot send mail to someone that is ignoring you, nor can
you send mail to someone that you are ignoring.
In addition to sending mail to players by name, you may also
send mail to 'friends' (players who are on your friend list)
as well as 'clan' and 'guild', provided that you are a member
of a clan or guild.
