Spells
Magic spells allow a player to do a number of things supernaturally,
which he could not do otherwise. To cast a spell you must have a
spellbook, and you must have that spell written in your book.
Spells are performed by the 'cast' command. To use a spell such as
fireball you would type:
>cast fireball
However, you need to put a name after the fireball spell, to direct it
at someone. To do so simply type:
>cast fireball rabbit
This casts a fireball at the rabbit. Some spells will assume a target
if you do not provide one: light will work on the caster if no target
is mentioned, and fireball will work on your current opponent. Other
spells do not require a target.
Before you can cast a spell, you have to have a spellbook with the
spell written in it. After you have the book, you can then attempt
to cast the spells in that book, but remember, casting will use
endurance points: if you run out of endurance points, you cannot cast
any spells until you get some endurance points back. You also need to
have a staff in your hands.
NOTE: When attacking by casting a spell, you will be too busy to do
anything else (ie- hitting the enemy with a physical weapon). Be wary!
Your spellcasting skills will improve as you gain practice with the
spells. You can also raise your spell casting skills by finding a
master to teach you, but you will most likely have to pay him. The
higher your skills are, the more effective your spell will be.
If you have spells already, type "help spell <spellname>" to see the
help for each spell you have.
