The 'compare' command has been extended to all professions:
 
Wizards with 6th sense can compare staves.
Archers with archery skill can compare bows.
Riders with mounted combat skill can compare any weapon that is
  usable while mounted.
Assassins with assassination skill can compare any weapon that is
  usable for backstab.
Warriors with combat arms can compare any weapon, in addition to
any armour.
 
Additionally, two containers can be compared by any player of
any profession.
