Guilds

Hello Ardans,

It has come to our attention that there has been confusion
about what actions are permitted given that you are not
required to separate the manner in which you play your
multiple characters.

The rules regarding what you may do have not changed, but we have
updated 'help multiplaying' to clarify some of these illegal
scenarios, specifically sections 2a, 2e, and 3.

In a nutshell, you may have as many characters as you like and
may play them however you like, but ultimately each character must
be *independent* of each other. This means that you cannot treat
your characters like descriptions in the 'wardrobe' command,
selecting the appropriate character for a given scenario.

You cannot use one character to aid another character in ANY WAY.

To be specific, that means that you cannot transfer equipment, gold,
or anything else between characters. There is solely one exception
through which equipment may be transferred -- through a shop in which
players do not set the prices (i.e. no public guild shop, no barge,
etc.). If you end up with equipment that your alt used/had/touched
in any way except through which the item was sold to the shop and
then bought, you are in violation of these rules. Examples of such
violations include equipment used by Alt#1 that ends up in Alt#2's
guild armoury, equipment looted from Alt#1's corpse that ends up
in use by Alt#2.

Beyond equipment, you cannot use one character's abilities to
benefit another character. This specifically means using find
with one character and using the results with a second character.
It also includes any other MUD command that benefits your other
characters, such as changing characters to bash/pick a lock,
to rob or attack a player that your character has a problem with,
and so on. This list of examples is not exclusive; there may exist
other ways in which you may benefit one character through the
actions of another, all of which are against our rules.

If this sounds new to you, then please pay special attention to it.

For the full text of the multiplaying/character separation
rules, please see 'help multiplaying'

Mathias,
On behalf of the administration.
