Note 54 Ghorin (07/11/10 17:20) The Two Towers on Facebook

Hey all,

Today we have installed changes to the MUD and to our web client /
facebook
application that allow the MUD to post messages on your facebook wall.
This will only work if you are connecting from the web client at
    http://t2tmud.org/client
(while logged on facebook), or directly from the facebook application at
    http://apps.facebook.com/thetwotowers

Additionally, for the function to work you need to enable it MUD-side
through 'set facebook on' or through the 'settings' command. The latter
will only display the facebook options if you are connecting from
facebook, so do not be confused if you don't see the options there right
now.

Currently, the MUD sends the following posts:
  - At the end of tutorial, for new players
  - When you change your profession
  - When you gain a level
  - When you join a guild or become a guildmaster
  - Every time you complete 25 new quests in the quest tracking system

Now, a plea to all our players who use facebook:

I do understand that these messages can be sometimes a bit annoying,
but we do hope that they may help us bring new users in game. So, please
take an hour or two of your time to log on to the game from facebook
and play a while (either with your main char or a low-level alt) to
generate some messages on YOUR wall for YOUR friends to see. We need
them to join our game! We count on your help here!

PS. We know of a bug in the facebook API that may sometimes prevent
the message from being posted and instead leave a stuck "Loading"
dialog on your screen.  If that happens, just close the dialog;
the next message, whenever it happens, should work properly.

PPS. The "profession change" messages will only start working after
reboot.
