Charset (Configuration command)
Usage: |
charset charset list charset <new charset>
|
The charset command controls the "character set" (encoding) used to
display special characters such as accented letters. The command affects
the encoding The Two Towers sends to your client; you will have to set
the charset that your client expects. In nearly all cases, this can be
configured in your client setup.
Without an argument, this command will display your current charset
and a "test sheet". With the "list" argument, a list of all available
charsets will be presented. Any other argument will be interpreted as
a request to change your charset.
A few commonly used charsets are:
- ISO-8859-1 - Western European, the default
- UTF-8 - Unicode
- CP1250 - Central Europe (MS Windows)
- KOI8-R - Russian
- ISO-2022-JP - Japanese
- Big5 - Taiwan
- GB2312 - mainland China
- ASCII - no accented letters (always works)
The Two Towers web and facebook clients use the UTF-8 charset; if
you are using one of them, you should set your charset to UTF-8.
