Fines (PvP Help)
Fines are money you owe to the judge for a crime you have committed.
Whatever the crime was, the verdict was you being guilty, and so the
judge imposes a fine based on the crime. It would be wise to pay the
fine off as quickly as possible, for if the time runs out, you go wanted
and can be arrested by deputies, or killed by anyone for free.
Theft fines are based only on the amount stolen. They do not grow
larger with more thefts committed, however there is no upper limit to their
value. It means that you should be careful not to steal too much at a
time!
Murder fines, however, are an attempt at some serious damage to a
character, and they do grow larger over time. For every attempted murder
or murder committed, the next crime of the same type will carry a larger
fine. The maximum fines for murder and attempted murder are 10,000 gold
and 5,000 gold respectively.
There are two exceptions to this rule. One is killing in Mordor.
Since there is no lawsys, there are no fines, and thus no increase in
fines. The second is the guild alliance system, and one guild having
declared hostilities against another.
After you age a certain amount, crimes are taken off of your record.
This will cause murder fines to go down. When you check your record at
a courthouse, it will show ALL crimes you've ever committed. But rest
assured, the fine amount is calculated as if you've had the crimes
stricken from your record.
For every 5 days of character age, you get the following number of
each type stricken from your record:
- False Report: 3
- Attempted Murder: 8
- Murder: 4
- Contract kill: 6
Theft fines are not removed, as they do not increase with the number
you have committed.
