Swim (Travel command)
Usage: |
swim <direction | here>
|
The 'swim' command allows you to enter the streams and rivers of Arda,
and swim from room to room within them. Be aware that just keeping afloat
is a tiring task, and swimming in any direction requires even more energy.
It should be noted that swimming can become exceedingly dangerous if
attempted while encumbered or tired. Drowning is a real possibility while
swimming, so watch your endurance closely.
To stop swimming, you must move onto dry land. To start swimming, swim
in the direction of water, or if you are on a bridge or certain riverbanks
or beaches, simply use 'swim here'.
If you drop anything while you are swimming it will sink and you will
be unable to recover it. While swimming you will not be able to take the
time to 'get' anything, whether it is in the water or in your inventory, so
go prepared. Alternatively, if you do not wish to swim, boats are available
in some areas and will allow safe and easy passage across most bodies of
water.
Note: |
Typing 'swim here' while already swimming near a riverbank, beach
or bridge will have the opposite effect: you will stop swimming and
be moved onto the 'land' part of the room.
